Collaboration is one of our cultural pillars that runs deep throughout Chevron Green Services.

We take it seriously, collaborating on a whole host of areas, from delivery schemes to social value.

One social value initiative that we're delighted to be a part of is working alongside the Chevron Group on their initiative in prisons. Over the past few months, our Social Value Champion, Donna Nolan, has been working with Maria King-Smith CMIOSH, Chevron Group Social Value Manager and Shirley Young, Chevron Group Talent Acquisition Manager to deliver presentations, training and qualifications required to work in both green services and traffic management.

At HMP Lindholme we also worked alongside the inmates and instructors to help them produce a garden for the Windlesham Garden Competition, the theme this year was 'Hot'. The garden was designed by one of the inmates, they did a great job and produced a garden based around the beach with the woodwork team making sunbeds, bug house tables, towels made from their own flowers and plants that they've cultivated. They even made an ice cream stand!

The Industries Manager at HMP Lindholme said:

"I’ve been to look at the Windlesham 10x10 garden competition display, the prisoners have worked so hard and have had some fantastic ideas. They’ve made a bucket out of repurposed wood with a spade on a spike, the spike has been dug into some sand in the bucket, it looks brilliant! The ice cream stand looks great too and prisoners have made a sign offering donkey rides on the beach! All of this has been made from recycled materials around the establishment, not forgetting the flowers that have been grown in-house for the display too. The most rewarding part for me is that some of the prisoners have been speaking to me and thanked me and CGS for all of our help, one of them said a lot of prisoners have personal problems and drug-related issues but working on the garden project has really helped them and they’ve genuinely enjoyed it."

Getting that sort of feedback and knowing we're making a difference gives us a great sense of pride in our volunteering work.
