Landscape Management demonstrates our ability to cover the full spectrum of the subject from baseline surveys and asset development to species rich grassland creation and woodland planting.
Managing landscapes across England allows Chevron Green Services to play a pivotal role in understanding how we can enhance estates for our clients. Whilst safely and sustainably creating and managing them for generations to come.
Our team of consultants are able to support clients and advise on the best course of action to meet their needs by undertaking baseline surveys of their estates and the surrounding environment.
Working with our regional operations teams, our consultants then support the approved concepts to become a reality. Our operations team regularly undertake grassland creation and improvement works, initially through site clearance followed by hydroseeding of species of local provenance.
One of the most significant landscape interventions in Chevron Green Services portfolio is the biodiversity enhancements on the A303 in proximity of the World Heritage Site, Stonehenge. Where we reestablished 90,464m² of grassland including the hydroseeding of 35,845m² with wildflowers. Creating this significant wildflower meadow on the road verge has created an important habitat for pollinators which will improve the local ecosystem.
Another significant project was the review, planning and delivery of replanting woodland plots on the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon project including replanting of 165,000 bare root, cell grown and containerised trees, shrubs and hedge plants. This project supported the original project outcomes as well as created positive engagement with stakeholders and customers.
Whilst creating and enhancing our client’s estates involves significant planning and investment, the management of these is paramount. Such activities include tree and shrub maintenance, annual cut and collect of species rich grassland and the management of injurious and invasive species.
Occasionally, projects require the removal of hedgerows, particularly where they’ve become unmaintained. Whilst this can have a detrimental effect on biodiversity, unmanaged hedgerows can be brought back into a managed state through hedge-laying. This not only retains the hedges and the maturity of the hedgerow, but also creates a natural barrier where there are areas of livestock.
