🌍 Biodiversity Net Gain: and the power of collaboration 🤝
BNG isn’t just about policy, it’s about partnerships that drive real impact. By working with innovative organisations and emerging technologies, we can take biodiversity enhancement to the next level.
BNG is well established in terrestrial planning, but the push for Marine Net Gain (MNG) is gaining momentum. Coastal and offshore developments are now considering how to enhance marine ecosystem, restoring seagrass meadows, supporting reef habitats, and improving water quality.
When working on projects which require MNG, we work with our collaborative partners Carcinus Ltd who are experts in coastal surveys. Their team of marine and freshwater ecologists work with our land-based ecologists to provide the surveys required for any land or water-based project.
Across the Chevron Group, digital innovation is a core service offering. AI is transforming how we monitor biodiversity, offering real-time insights on habitat changes, species movement, and ecosystem health. These tools help track progress, predict risks, and refine management plans for long-term success and are proving useful in the field.
BNG works best when developers, ecologists, tech innovators, and policymakers come together. By leveraging expertise across sectors, we can create smarter, more resilient biodiversity strategies.
