Mechanised arboriculture provides safe, efficient and sustainable tree removal
Mechanisation of arboricultural operations ensures that we can provide an efficient and effective working process. There are also many benefits of using mech arb. Through the hierarchy of controls, mechanising operations will initially reduce the number of operatives on site, and by extension, reduce the amount of equipment needed to be bought to site. So, fewer vehicles are required to transport both operatives and equipment. As a result, a single vehicle can often transport all the plant needed for a mechanised arb team, thereby reducing journeys, lost time and carbon emissions.
Using mechanised arb also drastically reduces the risk of operations teams working at height. It’s particularly useful where disease has weakened the tree in question, for example with ash dieback, which rules climbing an unsafe method of removal. The health benefits to site staff are many, as vibration and noise exposure is reduced as well as limiting fatigue.
The mechanisation of operations also allows for the efficient clearance of overhead lines and poles which in turn limits the number of required return visits. Improving the length of the job again supports a reduction in carbon emissions.
Where a tree is particularly tricky to access, for example when it’s situated by a large body of water, mech arb is a useful, safe and reliable option for pruning or removal.
