We love it when we get to join forces with different parts of the business 🙌🏼💚
Earlier this month, over five days, we had Chevron Green Services and Chevron Green Consultancy teams working together on a vegetation clearance enabling future ditch work on the A34 between Winchester and Oxford. The de-vegetation work was undertaken by four CGS teams, working in shifts day and night alongside our client's Site Supervisor.
It was a tricky site from an ecological perspective, so CGC provided two Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) for the duration of the works, one working during the day and one working on the night shift. Our ECoW was checking for early nesting birds, managing potential reptile hibernating sites, and checking for potential bat roosts. They also ensured no clearance was made around an active badger sett, a bat roost site and protected nearby ancient woodland.
Our ECoW was also responsible for advising our client on future ecological requirements when ditch work starts after the hibernation period. In a show of solidarity from the group, teams from our sister company Chevron TM provided traffic management for the day shifts.
It was such a great project to work on. Our teams worked seamlessly with our client. There was excellent communication on site, all parties listened to advice, and the work was done with care and professionalism. Our client was delighted with the result.
If you're worried about protected species or wildlife stopping your upcoming projects, do get in touch. We have a number of ECoWs who can prep method statements and advise on legislation and best practice. Once your project starts on site, our ECoWs guide you and your teams to ensure work is undertaken appropriately; they can also provide guidance on upcoming stages of your works.
