That feeling when your work is going so well for the client that they add on extra sections, not once but twice.
One of our teams in Area 6&8 has been working on a project around the A47 Vauxhall Roundabout in Great Yarmouth.
We were asked to clear an area of vegetation in order for a geological company to complete some borehole testing during the planning phase for a proposed new bridge. Whilst working on this, we were asked to extend the vegetation clearance to enable accurate surveying of the ground and its levels. We were then asked again to do further vegetation clearance work to allow for more surveys to accurately take place.
All in all, what started as a project lasting nine shifts has grown into works lasting for 13 weeks.
The job has been a collaborative effort and has seen us work with several different contractors all working on various parts of the project. The land also runs adjacent to Network Rail which in itself adds some extra level of complexity to it. We have had to make intricate changes to our documentation and processes to factor in additional rules put in place by third parties.
Chevron Green Services has four operatives on site every day using a mix of machinery including a Valtra tractor with an 18” crane fed chipper, 6-tonne excavator with a tree shear attachment and forestry mulching head, as well as tracked chippers, robocuts and green climbers.
To make things extra complicated, it’s bird nesting season and the land is on the boundary of an SSSI, as such, we’ve also required an ecologist on site every day. Luckily, we’ve been able to be supported in this by Chevron Green Consultancy.
It’s been a really interesting project for us to work on, we love working collaboratively, both within our group with Chevron Green Consultancy and outside of it with the other contractors and companies involved in the building work. It’s really rewarding to see how efficient everyone is when pulling together as a team.
