Chevron Green Consultancy are working on annual tree re-inspection surveys for Tarmac Kier Joint Venture (TKJV) across routes in Northeast and Northwest London.
It's a large project which requires approximately 200 days on-site. All main highway routes in London between the M25 and north of the Thames (excluding Central London) are being surveyed. Our client has to survey all of their trees as a detailed inspection, recording all information every five years, and then annual surveys to assess any changes and work requirements between times.
We were sent all the original data, which has been uploaded to our ArcGIS system so we can add fields for data collection this year. All the trees and woodland groups appear as dots or polygons on our maps, accessed using the Field Maps app on the surveyors' smartphones or tablets.
The existing data and survey form appears when each tree or group is clicked on the map, and once the record is complete, it changes colour on the map so it is visually easy to see what has or hasn’t been completed.
Due to the locations of the trees and the routes involved, we are trying to use public transport, bikes or an electric bike to undertake the work where possible. We have two surveyors working on this over the next few months; as you can see from the photo, we still have a long way to go.
The dots in green or yellow mark the trees already inspected; the red dots are the ones we're yet to complete. If you'd like to discuss your upcoming tree survey or land management requirements, please email our Arboriculture Consultancy team, Consultancy@ChevronGS.com.
